Hello

This is starting to drive me nuts. I've done everything I could think of to try and fix this problem. Right now one of our users keeps getting fatal errors from outlook (fatal exception error and outlook just closes) and sometimes she'll get an error saying her archive didn't work and the log is put into her deleted items folder. Here is one of the log reports. Also, sometimes the log changes so some folders that were archived fine before can't be archived and vice versa.

Error while archiving folder "Bethesda Safeway" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Error while archiving folder "Culpeper" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Error while archiving folder "Meadowbrook" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Error while archiving folder "potomac station" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Error while archiving folder "Riverton Commons" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Error while archiving folder "Arundel Mills" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Error while archiving folder "Cascades" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Error while archiving folder "cypress point" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Error while archiving folder "Twin Hickory" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Error while archiving folder "Village Court" in store "Mailbox - Peg Kemp". The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.

Here is our current setup.
2 exchange 5.5 servers... one in our local office and one in Bethesda (where this user is)
Running office 2000
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8
Peg's PST was right at 1.12 gb

I've tried the following to fix the problem:
1)Updated Office 2000 to Service Pack 3
2)I split her PST into seperate files. All of her sent items (500meg worth) into it's own PST. I noticed the file size of the original pst in windows was still 1.12 gb even after I moved all the sent items out. I exported the contents of the original PST to a new one so it's down to 650 meg now.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I know that this may seem trivial, but....
Well it seems that it cannot find the archive.pst file.

From the error messages:
"The path specified for the file C:\Documents and Settings\pegk.BETHESDA\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid."

Are you sure that this is the correct path to the archive file?

The solution to this is to repair the archive.pst file using "SCANPST.EXE" ususally found in ..\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12.
