I am part of a team developing a huge windows application using c#. This application makes use of web services, sql 2000 and has a lot of dll's. I want to create a component for installation on the client side. What is the best approach to handle this?

Thanks.

Since you're on a large team I assume you have a rather extensive budget.  I'd recommend looking into purchasing an installation package creator like InstallShield:

VS.NET has a built in setup project but I wouldn't waste too much time with it.  It's very inflexible and you'll end up spending way more time/money trying to figure out how to do what you need with it than to just use InstallShield.

Oh, also, you can look at Wise, but most people prefer InstallShield to it:

Thanks for your response. However, my company is not willing to spend money on any tool for installation. They prefer to build a component. Do you know a step by step approach on how this can be achieved with the setup project?

Thanks.
