I'm currently trying to install MS SQL Server 2005 on our windows 2003 server for testing. Unfortunately, it seems a connection can't be made to the server in order to configure it. I keep receiving the following error:

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 CTP Setup
----------------------------------------

SQL Server Setup could not connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]TCP Provider: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
 Refer to server error logs and setup logs for more information. For details on how to view setup logs, see "How to View Setup Log Files" in SQL Server Books Online.

For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkID=20476&ProdName=Microsoft%20SQL%20Server&ProdVer=9.00.1116&EvtSrc=setup.rll&EvtID=29545&EvtType=lib%5Codbc_connection.cpp@Do_sqlScript@OdbcConnection::connect@x8007274d

What could be causing it and how do I fix it? I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Do you use any firewall program? And please also include the error logs for more detailed information.

Hi SaxonWica,

Thank you for the interest. Luckily I was able to get it working after trying for a day or so.

Dear FVDW,

How you managed to get it working? You can also ask the moderator to refund the points if you found the answer yourself.

Thank you
