Veritas 9.1 Rev.4691 Stand Alone hangs Veritas while trying to eject

Experts,

Veritas9.1 has been a nail biting/hair pulling challenge for me and I could use some advice please.

Hardware/ Software Backgroud:

Veritas 9.1 Rev.4691 SP2 Installed. Ran Repair feature as well

Windows BSE Premium 2003 Version 5.2 Build 3790

Exabyte VXA-2 SCSI Tape Drive Stand Alone.    Driver: Veritas 3.21.34b
Quantum DLT SCSI 8000 Tape Drive Stand Alone.   Driver Quantum 2.5.0 has latest firmware installed

SCSI Card: Adaptec 29160 Ultra160     Driver: Provider Microsoft ver. 5.2.3790.0

Previous Challenge:
This all started with my Quantum hanging at 99%.
Action Taken for solution: I updated Quantum firmware, Turn off verify option, and turned off eject option, recreated job, and device. The Quantum has an eject button on the stand alone.

Current Challenge:
After repairing the Quantum issue my Exabyte stated hanging at the end of the backup with the verify option off, job has been recreated, Veritas repair option.
The log shows the job is completed but in monitor it shows as running.
Eject option is on because that’s the only way I can get the tape to eject but it hangs the backup when it did not before. When I turn off the eject option Veritas works fine and performs the backup 100%. The issue is I’m unable to get the drive to eject with the eject option on. Even after the job completes then I perform a job to eject the drive it hangs and I have to stop all the Backup Service than restart it again. Veritas has been an ongoing challenge just to get everything working right one issue after another. I was going to download the Exabyte driver , but on there website it says the following:

CAUTION!: Commercial backup applications (ArcServe, BackupExec, Retrospect, etc.) require their own drivers to work correctly. The following driver, provided by Exabyte, is to be used only with an Operating Systems' built-in backup application. Once the following driver is installed, commercial backup applications will not work properly.
•      Install this driver only if specifically instructed to do so by your backup application's developer.
•      Removal of this driver, once installed, is extremely difficult.

Thanks Experts for your Help..

It's not a driver problem. I have had a similar issue with BENT10.0 and an Exabyte-VXA1

There's something screwey in the alert rules, which causes the job not to complete after it's ejected the tape.

You have to set the rule to auto acknowledge or somesuch.

I've also tried the Exabyte drivers, but not for this issue, they work, but I can't see if they're better or worse than the Veritas ones.

Thank harleyjd,

The job however does complete if the eject option is off. Then I creat a job to eject the drive and it hangs on both the quantum and the exabyte. This is so wierd. I'm still stuck.  I will however check the alerts. Thanks Again

That's exactly what I got - eject = off, all OK. Eject = on, hang at 99%

I checked the rules in the alerts option, I did not see anything that may be causing the problem. Still lost as to the problem. I just wish the darn thing would eject without having to stop all the services and restarting them.

This should be an accept 13987190 as I said it was a rule in BENT that needed to be changed, and that's exactly what the KB said. I don't think it's an A grade, but the mods only give As for a force accept. If the asker wantes to award points, then I'm happy with a B.
