Hi Naser72,

the only way is to reinstall the game, you might like to backup your save games first though

Cheers!

zee110... hope this time goes good...
but if you format the main partition there is a chance that the virus as infected the other partition, too!
before doing any other thing install an antivirus from a secure source, update it to the latest version and then do a full system scan

this is not the solution of your problem (the solution it's the one suggested by cyberdevil67) but this is more important than installing the game a think....

bye

If you feel lucky today, you can try to use an offline registry editor program (it opens up the reg hives and allows editing) to edit your old registry.

Then use the program to export all Doom3 related keys to a .reg file.

Once you have all the Doom3 keys in a .reg file you can go ahead and apply that file in your current windows installation.

This will essentially clone the entire doom 3 installation to the new OS without having to go through the entire reinstall (it's a bit longer of a process, but if you nolonger have the CD available for whatever reason, it's the only way to do it)

try to do this..
your games have got .DLL files in them if the game needs to be added to the registry go to -
Start- run and type regsvr32 and the path of the .dll files in your games
EXAMPLE regsvr32 d:\doom3\hello.dll
this will automaticly register them .DLL into your registry.

Not that simple easymage!!

The registry doesn't just contain dll registration but specific info about the game as well.

he should gather all the info he needs by registering the .DLL and the .OCX

No it will not, I just did a search for doom3 in my registry and there are settings left, right and centre that you would not be able to guess. I backup my registry then deleted at random some reg settings and doom failed to run.

well done...now we know that if he TRIES that option it can fail just an option he had more rather than deleting and reinstalling it over;) it doesnt do damage its not guaranteed to work but its still a try ...RIGHT CHOP? :)))

Well if you think that your answer is simple and easy it is, but it will not work when the registry also contains the games serial key hidden away in there.

So for the game to every work again he will need to reinstall the game as stated, no ifs no buts.

you are right cyber reinstalling will almost definatly work...but before that I would try my option...to register them .dll then if it doesnt work go on and uninstall and reinstall..;)

easymage,

your solution will not work. i have worked in the games industry for 10 years in the past and I'll tell you without a serial key and other info in the registry the game will not work. Its not just dll's that need setting up.
