follow up question

where do i get the tool to export my 2000 exchange mailboxes before i unistall it exchange 2000 and then install 2003 server and import my mailboxes from that tool?

netiq migration suite
www.netiq.com this will migrate between two exchange servers
otherwise you can export each users emails to a .pst file by hand... this software makes the migration this way but automatically

so before i unistall my 2000 sever   i locate my cd , find the tool, run the export,unistall 2000, install 2003, then run the import?

yes... Run the utility and follow the wizard. IT will export everything to PST files to a location you specify. Install 2003 and then run the same wizard to import the PST files
