550 Relaying is prohibited
When sending an email to a specific account i'm getting this message back:
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
'joe schmo' on 5/12/2005 8:55 AM
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
<exch.domain.org #5.5.0 smtp;550 Relaying is prohibited>
Is it me or the other server?
Thanx,
Tiby

What happened to the answer?
If you click on the link the answer appears to be #44 now. It has the same title 550 Relaying is Prohibited.
It would be helpful if we could actually see or find the answer to this thread. when you click on the link, it just gives you an unnumbered list, so how do I see the answer?
I think this was the information in the old link -
550 is a relay error, meaning that the machine you are trying to send from is not authorised to send through your smtp server. your router would not cause this error. this is an exchange issue. this Ip range that the client is on needs to be added to the trusted relay hosts.
have a look here at the exact error and how to fix it..
