How do I install Pocketpro ESI 2833 print served HP Laserjet 4 Plus on Windows 98 machines over tcp/ip?

Hi. I'm having trouble installing an HP laserjet 4 plus printer that sits on our LAN. The machine runs Windows 98se, and the printer is served by a "extended systems" now owned by "troy group" esi 2833 pocketpro print server, 10baseT.

Do I need drivers for the print server for windows 98? I don't think so, but I'm lost. I think my problem is the right configuration as far as port syntax.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks

The print server does not need drivers. However, Win98 does not support TCP/IP printing (2k & XP do). There are a number of utilities available that will let you create a TCP/IP port. One example is Xerox PhaserPort, see

ftp://ftp.tekcolor.com/ftp_dir/140,200E,200I,220,240,300,300X,340,350,360,380,440,450,480,540,540PLUS,550,560,600,740,750,780,840,850,860,6200,8200,4400,1235,2135,5400,7300,7700,N2025,N2125,N2825,N3225,N4025,N4525,N17,N24,N32,N40,C60/W9/3.1.0.0/PhaserPort.exe

You will need to know the IP address of the print server (you have given it one I assume?)

I browsed around the new company's (troy group) website, installed a print server utility, and it created that port i needed. Just didn't know where to find their tools b/c extended systems doesn't support it anymore. So, I solved this on my own...thanks for the effor thtough.
Great. Make sure you log a (free) question with Community Support, to state you solved your problem, and request a refund of your points.
The usual way is to install the network module, and the printer server utility.
If that is already installed then you need to take another look at your Windows 98 install to assure that it is properly connected to the network.
