Batch save for web

I have over 1000 high res photos that i want to resize and compress for the web. I have the resizing action fine. Problem comes when i'm compressing them. I have an action for save to web, however the compression is not very good. When i do it manually by choosing save to web from the file menu it works well. For example using the same image, manually it is 70k wheras using the action is is 120k. How can i use an action to output compressed jpg's that aren't so large?

    Accepted Solution

    1) Go to File --> Automate --> Web Photo Gallery
    2) In Source Image section, Choose... your folder with the 1000 images
    3) In Destination... , create a folder and title it whatever you like and place the folder wherever you like
    4) In the Options tab, under General, make sure the ADD WIDTH and HEIGHT ATTRIBUTE IS CLICKED ON
    5) In the Options tab, under Large Image, set your quality and the pixel settings
    6) In the Options tab, under Thumbnails Image, set your pixel settings
    7) As for the rest of the settings, you can leave it at default. You want batch optimization and not a photo picture gallery but this is very useful for group batching. When PS finishes the batching (should take few minutes for a 1000 images), just open up your images folder in the DESTINATION area you specified earlier and there, you can retrieve all your optimized images. If you want thumbnails, look in the thumbnails folder and wah lah!! With these files you can embed into your customized layout.

    Hope this helped.
