HP 3700n

Hi,

I have a problem with a 3700n colour printer. When you try to print a single copy of a document, it works fine. When you try to print 2 or more copies of a document, only the first copy prints.

There is also an intermittant problem, where if tray 2's paper is out. You reload paper, but then have to reconfigure the paper handling options etc...

It is networked and have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling.

Any suggestions

first of all you have uninstall the prionter driver from the comuter and restart it and reinstall its driver from this website http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?locale=en_US&pnameOID=315854&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=315849&lang=en&cc=us

The printer is attached to a file server. But the problem only happens on one PC. How do i uninstall the driver from only one machine?

Many Thanks

if you have authurization to do it you can go to start->control panel->add or remove programs-> and search for the hp 3700n driver and remove it
then download that driver and see if it works

Are a number of different operating systems involved?

You may need additional drivers for the different operating systems.

For example: If the printer was originally installed under Windows 2000, you may need to install additional drivers on that PC for the PC's running XP.

I have just removed the Printer Driver for W2k from server properties, and reinstalled the driver. Still unable to print multiple copies of a document in any application. Other PCs connected to the Same printer, using the same OS etc... CAN print.

If you are connected to an active directory domain and you remove thr printer driver from your Computer, you shouldn't need to install the or download a driver, The server should have the driver ready for you in active directory and it should install itself when you connect to the shared printer via the "Add a Printer" Wizard and select network printer, then find a printer in the directory....

Thanks rindi,

Thats what i did. I know the driver is the latest, and it does work on the other PCs with same image of 2k.

But still no joy.

First make sure you have enough free diskspace on all drives of that PC. Then right click the printer and select properties, then the "Advanced" tab.
Check the "print Processor", maybe you try all possibilities. Also check the other possibilities you have there, like print directly to printer etc.

Looks like the OS of that particular system is corrupted. I would reccomend a simple reinstall and then procedd to install drivers for the networked system and then try.

Trying to find the exact cause for this cud be likle finding a needle in a haystack. I dont think any other reason can be present to cause just printing of one page.

You can try and enter the printer settings and set them to defaults just in case someone changed the settings to Pause after print or something like that. Optionally u might wanna assign the printer a different username/IP and see if that makes any difference if this is Active Directory related.
