asked on

file permissions required for FrontPage Server extensions

My server is Windows 2003 with frontpage server extesions 2002.  I made a server-wide change in file permissions (yeah, what was I thinking), and now when I hit submit on a form I get the following error in the browser:

FrontPage Error.
User: please report details to the site's administrator

Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details.

upon checking the application event log for more details I find the following :

Source: FrontPage 5.0
Event ID: 1000

Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions:

Error #3005f Message: Unable to read configuration for Microsoft Internet Information Server

and below that at the same time:

Source: FrontPage 5.0
Event ID: 1000

Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions:

Error reading IIS default Vroot info

Since things were fine until I forced file permissions from the root the hard drive to the entire hard drive, I assume this is a file permission somewhere

HELP!

ASKER

No, that article applies to IIS5 not IIS6
Did you try to reapply FP extensions?  You might even have to remove them & reapply them
