Folders expanded by default

One of our users, when he starts Outlook, always has his folders expanded by default. We would like to turn this behavior off, but there does not appear to be a setting for this. In fact, we have no idea why his folders are doing that. Anyone know?

This can be caused by add-ins, so the first step I would recommend would be to:
1.  click TOOLS->OPTIONS->OTHER tab->ADVANCED OPTIONS
2.  click on add-in manager, uncheck everything, click OK
3.  click on com add-ins, uncheck everything, click OK
4.  restart Outlook, set folders as desired, close and restart Outlook, see if all folders are expanded

If the problem doesn't go away with the add-ins disabled, you can turn them back on.  And then please reply with the version of Outlook and whether the folders are in a Personal Folder (PST) or an Exchange Mailbox.

If the problem does go away, you should check 1/2 of the add-ins and see if the problem returns.  If it does then the problem is in those add-ins, if not it is in the other 1/2.  Using the 1/2 with the problem, turn on 1/2 and leave 1/2 off.  Continue until you pinpoint the addin with which the problem occurs when checked and doesn't occur when unchecked.

If the add-ins troubleshooting above doesn't fix the problem, try running detect and repair from the Outlook help menu - ther eis an option to discard any customized settings.

Other than that, a quick Outlook profile rebuild might take care of this - how to do this depends on your version of the client, so let us know if you need further instructions.
