I calculate how often this save button is pushed. If the save button is not pressed so often the operator has to scan in a barcode that I then find in the database the description why the button was not pressed on time.

How do I Stop in the middle of the save button procedure open a form with a text box for scanning and close the form before continueing on to the next step of the save procedure

I have that but the problem is the next line of code is the save() function where I have a messagebox that pops up and ask the operator to verify all data on form.  this message pops up right after the form loads.  I want the message to pop up after they have scanned the correct info and the form closes.

Why use a messagebox on that form as well? Why not program the scanning logic into that form? Also, frmLateResponse.Show() is different from frmLateResponse.ShowDialog(me). Maybe if you could post a little code, I'm not see exactly what you are trying to do ...
