I'm running Exchange Server 2003 on Window Server 2003 with Outlook 2002 - SP3 as the client.  We have several users starting to have problems with opening emails recieved via internet email.  If the preview pane is active there is a message that says "This item cannot be displayed in the preview pane. Open the item to read its contents"  We try to open the email and get the following message "Cant open this item.  You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object.  See the folder contact or your system adminstrator"   What we have found so far which is confusing is we can open the same message using OWA or opening Outlook in Safe mode.  Any information we be great appreaticated.

Makes sense if it is an add-in causing the problem.  It's probably an email scanning add-in installed by your Antivirus.  Try going into Outlook and go to Tools, Options, Other tab, Advanced options, and disable things that are in the Add-in Manager and Com Add-ins.  Then, restart Outlook and see if the issue goes away.  If so, go back in and start re-checking add-ins a little at a time until you find the one causing the problem.

I would suspect the AV add-in (might be called Exchange Scan, or Email Scan or something like that).  If you see something like that, try disabling that first, leaving everything else still checked, restart Outlook and see if the issue is still present.

It was our anti-virus plugin in Add-In Manager.  The anti virus program we are using is AVG 7.
