Connecting to a SQL Database with AppleScript?

Hello everyone -- is it possible to connect to a SQL database (either MS SQL or MySQL) with AppleScript?  Any suggestions, samples, or alternatives would be greatly appreciated.  I'm hoping to use the database info in a folder action, so I think AppleScript is the way to go, correct?  Thanks!

AFAIK, AppleScript does not support SQL connectivity.  That is the realm of Apple's
Enterprise Objects Framework (EOF), currently supplied with WebObjects:
