Strategy for issuing passwords/annual subscription

Can anyone give me some tips on how I can force users to contact me to obtain new password in order to continue using my application.  An annual licence is to apply to this application and I don't know how to go about controlling new passwords.

TIA

You have to program all this into the app. If the app runs on internet connected computers, best is to check for valid license once a day or so. See how the virus scan guys do it. They have solved a similar problem.

during installation, do a run once event that records the current date and puts it in the registry or an ini file depending on ur preference...encrypt that date so that the client can't manually change it...

once a day (like jrscherer said it) check the registry/ini file for that value and check for the difference between that date and the current date and see that its less than a year...

like he said, it has to be coded into the application...

also, during installation, the registry has to be checked for the value or the presence f the key for this program...because it shouldnt override if he reinstalls the application...if u check during installation, it will make sure that i uses the current date of the first installation and that installtion fails if the date difference is more than a year...
