Laptop freezes with wireless card

I bought a wireless PCI card  (D-Link AirPlus XtremeG) for my laptop  .
The wireless card works fine, get connection to wireless router, and so on... but after few minutes the computes freezes; the computer get lock up that only thing I can do is to shut it down the hard way.
The laptop has 2.4 Ghz processor (P4), 512 MB RAM.

Any comments?
thank you for your help

Sorry to bear bad news but yout PCI card has a reputation for making computers freeze.

If you can return it, I recommed doing so.

Otherwise, try the following:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/   ---- Update your Windows Version
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307970&sd=tech   --- check for hardware conflicts

http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm    ---- See if it works in safe mode

have the task manager open when you insert your wireless card and find out which processes begin using more CPUs.

When inserting wireless card, the CPU usage increased - from 0 - 3 % jumps to 19 -25 %  - Process: wmipruse.exe  NETWORK SERVICE  28,000K

Then the computer freezes.

The same problem happens in safe mode.
