Frontpage Server Extensions with SMTP

The website that I am hosting here on my local server, I have developed it with Frontpage. I am trying to use frontpage extensions to send an email, remind you this server is also an Exchange Server. I get this error
FrontPage Error.
User: please report details to this site's webmaster.
Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details.

I think the problem is, in my Frontpage extensions I do not have a SMTP server specified. I know that sounds stupid but when I put in my server name that does not work, when I put in smtp.servername that does not work. These settings also will not work when I try to use the frontpage admin to invite someone. If you can help I would greatly appreciate it.
