Updating Redhat ES 3 (Taroon)

Hi,
I have installed Redhat ES 3 on our system. I wanted to install the update 2 on it. Is there any documentation availble or should I run up2date or yum on my system and upgrade the full system.

Thanks.

Do I need to subscribe to redhat support, to get to download the update 2 image.

Yes, you need to subscribe the rhn.redhat.com to download the patches or run up2date.
The latest version for RedHat ES 3 is update 4.

But what does update 2 or update 4 list. Is it a rpm package like update2.rpm or does it refer to the kernel upgrades.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

update 4 is similar to M$ Windows XP + service pack2.
The package list are the same. Just the version are different.

I tried logging in to rhn.redhat.com, and it lists no update4 package to install.

In channel tag. It's in ISO format (4 ISO files).

By the way, run
up2date
as root, it will install all the latest patches.

rhn.redhat.com
when you login, then there are "system", "Errata" ...."Channel" tags on the page.
