How do I install the license for Microsoft's Flex Grid Control 6.0 so I can use it in Access?

    Accepted Solution

    1) The Flexgrid is NOT supported in the MS Access environment, therefore you would be wise to steer clear of it
    2) Should you decide to use it anyway, you would have to have a version of an MS development environment that allowed you distribution rights to the Flexgrid (like VB 6, for example). You would then install VB on the same machine as Access, and you would be able to use this control at design time in Access. IOW, you can't actually purchase a license just for the MS Flexgrid control ... of course there are several third party controls that provide much more functionality that the Flexgrid ...

If you want to deploy this to endusers, you would have to deploy the .ocx file associated with the Flexgrid (not sure which one that is) and use regsvr32.exe to register it on their machine.

Thanks. I thought this was the case however my project requires the flexgrid (using Access as a prototype). Have you any experience with any reasonably priced 3rd party flex grids? If you have I would appreciate some links. Thanks again.

By the way... tomorrow I will be installing Visual Studio .NET on the development machine... I assume this will license the whole PC for the FlexGrid. (I wonder if XP Developer would license the flexgrid? ...Probably not)
