Is this a fresh install, or have you explicitly changed your root privs?

i haven't changed the privileges. they just all of a sudden were all gone. i don't know where the conflict could have been but i just un-installed and deleted the mysql folder and reinstalled, and they are all back to full privileges.

nevermind this question

In whichever database you are creating ... if you're using a table named 'user', be very careful that you are 'use'-ing the proper database before updating that table.  For safety, I would not use the names 'user', 'host', or 'db' for any table created i nany other database ... just to avoid accidentally updating the wrong database/talbe.

not to say necessarily that was you particular problem ... but one possible cause.

hmmm... quite possibly the cause. i'd say that's good enough advice for 200 points.
