If you are willing to spend some money, I’d suggest “Crystal Reports Advanced Developer Edition 10”. It’s very powerful, flexible and comes with extensive knowledge base.

Hi,

I think that Jasper Report would be best

With thomas908, yes, it is portable to Tomcat and any other app server.

Now even Crystal Reports XI has been released. It may be even more powerful. I have only used Crystal Reports X and its pretty good

Dear Amanda18,
Yes you can generate report using Jasper Report. But it depends upon the requirement of your project if it is very simple then you can generate report by using your own code in HTML format.

And it is always better to write your own code for reporting because no standard code pattern is free.

you can store your data from database in Arraylist and using HTML formatting you can print the report. For better pl tell me you brief of application and report so that i can tell you in detail.
