Difference between Netezza and Postgres database

Hi

This is just a query, Is the Postgres Database is same as Netezza database ?
Does both works equally in Linux ? Are there any significant difference between these two which differentiate them ?

It would be great if some one can answer this query.
Thanks in advance

I found their product brochure, but there's very little technical info... They claim to be faster && better than any other RDBMS, but who doesn't?

You tell us !

PostgreSQL is probably better value because it is Open Source Software.  All testbenches are not equal.

Netezza, is very fast and is capable of holding very big database, But the way query run in netezza (syntax) i found it quite similar to Postgres. Netezza, as far i know, is not an open source.
I believe there are difference between postgrs and netezza but not sure in what sense. That's why i asked question.

From what I've heard from Netezza (I'm currently doing a vendor analysis on EDW vendors) is that they are a EDW appliance vendor. They sell a propietary hardware/software package for extremely fast analytics(24Tb/hr table scan rate) and complex queries. Netezza uses its own software to run the appliance because primarily becase it utilizes a FPGA that sits between the RAM and HDD to filter data before it gets to the CPU. From what I understand, you can still write SQL as you would Postgres and run any data model as well(star, snowflake, 3rd normal).
