Hi frontlinebiz,

Please look at this file:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Support\icwlog.txt Find the "ERROR" lines from your last run of the CEICW and post it back here so I can help you out.

frontlinebiz,

Also... please advise if you have 1 or 2 NICs, do you have a router?  If so, what is the make/model?

Thanks.

You still haven't provided the router make and model (so I can make sure that I'm giving you the right answer)... and also it would be helpful if you provided a C:\>IPCONFIG /ALL from the server.

I'm guessing, however, that it's one of two things:
1.  Your WMI service wasn't running at the time you ran the CEICW... so make sure that it is.
or
2.  The new DNS IPs didn't register right... be sure that you put the new DNS numbers in the Network Connection's TCP/IP properties and then also make sure that when you run the CEICW you select "Direct Broadband Connection" (even if it's a router).  During the CEICW's routine the DNS entries will then be inserted as your "Forwarders" and will be correctly replaced with the server's IP address.

But before you do any of that...if you provide the above requested info I can confirm the problem.

Here is a method from Ray Fong (Microsoft SBS Product Support ) as posted in the Microsoft Public Newsgroup:

1. Go to a command prompt, type "wbemtest"
2. WMI Tester should open, click Connect, type "root\cimv2" under Namespace
and click Connect.
3. Click Query, type "select * from win32_processor", click Apply. Are you
getting any errors? What do you got?
4. Click Query, type "select * from Win32_OperatingSystem", click Apply.
Are you getting any errors? What do you got?

Next, go to a command prompt, go all the way to system32\wbem, type
"regsvr32 cimwin32.dll". Next reboot. Now, right-click WMI Control again
from Computer Management, same error?

If it is the same, then go back to the command prompt, go all the way to
system32\wbem, type "for /f %x in ('dir /b *.dll') do regsvr32 %x" to
register all the dlls. Reboot. Right-click WMI Control again from Computer
Management, same error?

By the way... it DOES sound as if your issue is URGENT which means that it's a BUSINESS CRITICAL situation?  In other words, is the business unable to function without this fix?

If so... you qualify for FREE support from Microsoft to resolve this problem.  Call the appropriate number from this page:  http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&c1=508&gprid=3208& if you're in the US (or click on other areas if not).

Advise them that this is for BUSINESS CRITICAL support.

I had a similar issue except with an 1104 error code on both an SBS and 2003 server.

When I ran wbemtest utility exactly as described, discovered Access Denied error.

RESOLUTION:  After a marathon session with Microsoft Tech Support, rebuilt a corrupted WMI repository and made sure that DCOM was running with the Default Authentication Level set to "CONNECT" on the Default Properties tab.

All good to go now.

Check your Dcom settings first and then if you do decide to rebuild your WMI respository, I would definately encourage you to call Microsoft support as TechSoEasy suggested.
