Need help with DNS issue

I have a webserver that is currently running off of an IP address.  I finally got it configured the way I want it, and am ready to go to the dns name.

However, there are still a few issues I am worried about.

#1 - my mail is all coming from root@ipaddress

#2 - Though I have php set for directory (index.php) file when someone goes to http://ipaddress/folder, it is still coming up with an error page that looks like it's going to:

localhost/folder/index.php, which means something is not set as the ipaddrtess but as the localhost.

I need to find out the following:

How to make sure my mail is configured proper;ly, so that when I do the switch it will go to root@domainname.com instead of root@ipaddress

- And -

How to make sure the ipaddress is configured correctly.

Can someone help?
