How to easily change color when composing an email?

I am often in the position of editing an previous email and would like to have my edits appears in colors, as is easily done in Word using "Track Changes." When there are lots of little edits it is annoying to have to continually go the the font color tool bar, open it and select a color.

1. Is there a nice keyboard shortcut that can accomplish this?

2. As an alternative, it would seem a macro could be set up to do the job.

Either way would work, as long as it is invoked with a simple keystroke sequence.

Thanks.
