What goes pop and smells like smoke?

I have a computer that I built.  Here are the specs.

PROCESSOR - InINTEL PENTIUM 4 PROCESSOR 550 LGA775 1MB L2 CACHE 3.4GHz 800MHz FSB INTEL PENTIUM 4
VIDEO CARD - Geforce FX 5500 AGP 256MB
CASE - Aspire (Mid-Tower Case w/ 350W Power Supply Model ATXB3KLW-BK/350W
CPU FAN - ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU

Last night I was working on my computer and I heard a loud pop in the Computer Case then I smelt an Electrical burning smell.  When I looked at the case it smelt as if the smell was strongest at the Power Supply Fan and not as strong in the Case itself.  My CPU was running at about 47c - 49c.  I shut the computer down for the night and turned it on this morning and everything seems to be running ok.  But I am sure that a popping noise is not a good thing.

Does anyone know what this could have been?  I am thinking the Power Supply.  But I can not figure why everything is acting like nothing happened.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
