i have got an  ibm x40 laptop  has password in bios so please send me a solution for how to unlock it

There's a chance you may have to send it to IBM to get it reset. It would certainly be safer that way, the procedure is quite difficult.

On page 88, there is a set of instructions for removing the RTC battery. This should reset the password.

I am assuming that the 'password' is the 'hard drive' type. My company has been looking at this feature to secure our laptops if they are stolen so noone can 'steal' information. At this time, there is no way YOU can clear that password. Only IBM can ( as was mentioned ealier ) . Even if you know the password, you still cannot get rid of it. Once this feature is activated it cannot be disabled. Sorry
