Need best solution for backup to NAS
Hello all..
I have recently installed a NAS device that back's up 4 servers. We are currently using arcserve (previously used with dlt backups). It is a little cumbersome (perhaps I haven't figured it all out), but it works. Just wondering if there is a better (less human intensive solution) that may use some of the more advanced backup features such as shadow copy etc.. I have heard that V2i protector has a good solution but haven't even looked at it since it was a powerquest product. I am also looking for a solution that will do rapid recovery for the servers I am backing up.
What would be better yet is something that speaks english in terms of file recovery. Withthe current solution it could take up to an hour or 2 just to recover a file depending on the situation
Thanks for any advice on this..

It's a pricey solution, but you could employ something like double-take to do real time replication from your servers to the nas device. That way you would not need any type of "backup" software because things would be replicated over to the nas box without intervention.

you will need remote agents for each of your servers and the exchange/SQL agents wherever needed. backups can be scheduled at 1 hour intervals and the WSS does snapshots ever day.
works like a charm
