"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You will need to follow the instructions, and contact your server admin in this case - no way around it.
Hi dtooth71,

Boot up to Safe Mode and try to delete it there.

How about creating a rule that uniquely identifies the e-mail (by Subject, for example) and moves it to the Deleted Items folder.  Run the rule and assuming the offending e-mail is moved, right click on the Deleted Items folder and select 'Empty "Deleted Items" Folder'.
The virus scanner is probably catching it as it is being moved to the Deleted Items folder. Use Shift-Del to permanently delete the item, and it shouldn't be rescanned.
