"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

this should hopefully do the trick

procedure TForm1.Timer1Timer(Sender: TObject);
begin
   if editor.WordAtCursor = 'test' then
      editor.Cursor := crHandPoint
   else
      editor.cursor := crIBeam
end;

opening the popup menu when a user clicks on the word test is done with

procedure TForm1.EditorClick(Sender: TObject);
begin
if editor.WordAtCursor = 'test' then
   popupmenu1.Popup(mouse.CursorPos.x, mouse.CursorPos.y);
end;

Better would have been editor.WordAtMouse. Also, no need for timer just use the Editor OnMouseMove event;
