I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Joking aside, are you saying that he receives two copies of each incoming e-mail he receives?

I would certainly check for the existince of rules.  If there are any there uncheck them all and see what happens.

I have seen the same thing in Outlook Express bringing down Hotmail emails. It first brings down the list of headers and then brings down the items themselves. If the OE Inbox is on the screen, all of the new items show up as duplicates. However, if you have a view other than the Inbox open (e.g. another folder), then OE figures out that it should only have a single entry for each item.

Have your friend try the download with another folder on the screen, and once the download is complete, then go to the Inbox. They will hopefully find a single copy of each new email.
