Black square over logos in PDF doc created with distiller from word doc

Using acrobat 5, word 2003, windows xp sp2, print a word doc to distiller to make PDF file.  The logo in
the word doc looks fine, but when PDF is created, there is a black square over most of the logo, rendering it
unreadable.  Is this some kind of special feature of Adobe?  How do I get it to create the PDF without that
logo being blocked?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Acrobat 5 predates Word 2003 by about four years. It's possible that the two are just not compatible. This is certainly not a "special feature", you should get your logo in the PDF file.

Are you running Acrobat 5.0.0, or 5.0.5? If it's not 5.0.5, then upgrade. It's a free download from Adobe's web site, and it fixes a lot of problems.

How are you creating your PDFs? Are you printing to the Distiller printer, or are you using the PDF buttons in Word? If it's the latter, try to print to the Distiller printer and see if you run into  the same problem.
