CDE Login states ToolTalk Message Server could not be started

When I login to my AIX machine in CDE (as any user including root) I get a failsafe session that states "Tooltalk Message Server Could Not Be Started".

Further details ask to check resolv.conf, tcpip setup, etc.  All are working and configured correctly.

I extended the DT_TTSESSION_TIMEOUT to 120 . No Luck

Checked the .dt/startlog which basically just shows the same error as above.

Can't turn anything up on the net regarding the issue.  A few posts made but no solutions provided.

I'm new to AIX so other than the obvious steps I'm stumped.  Any ideas on a solution would be appreciated.

AIX 1.0 ??? or 5.3 ???

$ time host `hostname`
$ oslevel -r

This is almost always caused by not being able to resolve the local hostname to a TCP/IP address. Please check if the "hostname" command returns the name you expect and that if you try "ping hostname" that you get a response. Also check that the entries for loopback and localhost are correct by trying "host loopback", "host localhost" and "host". They should all resolve the same.
