exchange move 2003 to 2003

I have 2003 domain and 2003 exchange. Because of problems on this exchange I have setup a new server and have exchg 2003 installed on the second exchange. I plan to move everything off the existing server and shut it down.

I have moved a few mailboxes and I had to go to the desktop a redriect the outlook profile toi the new server. Does anyone know a way around this? Shouldn't outlook detect the mailbox and what server it has moved to?

Thanks,

Donnie

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, outlook should auto find the new server and switch.  Often this is done during the open process of outlook.  If it doesn't, then you have an AD problem within your exchange organization.  Make sure one of the servers is listed as a master server in the Exchange System Manager.  Secondly check your event log for any replication problems and post.

*note = You placed a question under the Windows 2000 section.  You may want to consider placing this question in the Exchange 2003 section, since this is where most of the people with these type of answers are more likely to be.
