Stop message alert

I want to stop people being able to tell whether i have read an e-mail. I have Outlook 2000 but I can't eem to find where I can turn that option off.

Hi FalconTwo,

With Outlook open, go to Tools > Options > Receipts.  Check "Notify me of each read receipt request". Click OK.

is probably going to answer your question.

In essence, if you have an Exchange Server you can prevent requests from receipts going outside your domain.  If you haven't got Exchange then there is no way to prevent Outlook issuing receipts - you'll need to upgrade to OL2002 for this.
