Hacker Protection

I am interested in ensuring my pc has good protection against Remote Access Trojans or any undesirable program secretly downloaded by a hacker.

My PC is using windows 98. I have a McAfee Virus Scan and McAfee Firewall 6.0. I also am using a D-Link wireless router/firewall. I use Internet Explorer to browse the web.

Does anyone have some recommendation regarding a program that will periodically scan for unwanted programs possibly added to my PC startup?

Does anyone know anything about "Hacker-Eliminator"?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try a HIPS, like www.prevx.com.
You're a bit limited with W98 - it's quite flawed and no longer supported, so you need to pair this up with a good AV / firewall program.
Hacker Eliminator is cool, but it costs.  There are plenty of free variants out there that will help you along the way - SpyBot is a good one.
