file open type dialog on c# webform other than html input control

Is there another way to open a file search dialog from a c# webform other than the html input control. I am having a problem with the html control clearing the filename on postback

Sadly this control was not superceded with the new set of WebControls released in ASP.NET.  If it were then it would simply be a matter of setting the EnableViewState property to True and then the value in the control would be preserved throughout postbacks.

All I can suggest is adding one of the new controls (an <asp:TextBox> or an <asp:Label>) and setting the value of that control equal to your HtmlFileInput and setting it's EnableViewState property to True.  Then when your page posts back and refreshes that control will still contain the original file.  Not what you want ideally I know but it could get you out of trouble.
