gotoAndStop(x); in multiple instances of a movieclip

I have a scene with multiple instances of the same movieclip.

Is there a way - through actionscript - in one command to gotoAndStop(x); in all instances of the movieclip?

if inside the movieclip there're only the nested instances, you can use a script like this:

for(var prop in your_clip)
{
           your_clip[prop].gotoAndStop(x);
}

if you want a control on the type:

for (var prop in your_clip)
{
      var p = your_clip[prop];
      if(typeof p == "movieclip")p.gotoAndStop(x);
}

All clips are in frame 1 of the main stage.
Then I can't use 'your_clip' - can I ?

Can I use _root instead?
