Shared Libraries Extensions

Hi,

can someone please fill in the following for me:

   Platform       |    Shared Library
  --------------------------------------
  Windows       |    DLL
  Mac OS X      |    ?
  Solaris          |    SO
  Linux             |   ?
  Unix              |    ?

There's about 167 points available for each of the 3 required solutions..

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Sure - all the systems with a '?' use shared libraries, they're all UN*X based:

   Platform       |    Shared Library
 --------------------------------------
 Windows       |    DLL
 Mac OS X      |    SO
 Solaris          |    SO
 Linux             |   SO
 Unix              |    SO

Brilliant - Thanks, Jkr. :-)

BTW, note that UN*X filesystems are case sensitive, so the extension is '.so'. And also, as a side note: You can name DLLs/SOs any way you want. E.g. on Windows, .ocx, .ax are 'just' DLLs.
