Eclipse vs. Oracle JDeveloper 10g 10.1.3

Hello Experts,

I am an intermediate level Java programmer with strong programming and Oracle database background, heading into EJB, JSF & J2EE development.

The reason, I am posting this thread is to gather your thoughts on which tool (Eclipse or Oracle JDeveloper) will be appropriate to use when using/learning the following technology:

- Java Servlets
- J2EE
Backend will be Oracle database.

Please recommend a good site to learn EJB if you know.

Thank you so much.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would recommend Eclipse, though I am not very familiar with JDeveloper. Eclipse is one of the most popular Java IDEs and I have even grown to like it more than Netbeans. As for EJB stuff, I've used this tutorial a lot:

Hope this helps.

As what NetworkAcrhitek told you, I would also prefer Eclipse. The reason is that Eclipse is very famous and thus there are lots of plugins available freely for you to choose. Thus, the development of the J2EE app would be tremendously increased. JDeveloper is not bad but the thing is that not many people are using it and thus, it is less famous and you may find it hard to get the help in the forums and etc.

For EJB tutorial,

I hope that helps.
