You will just need to install IIS on the Win2K server.  This can be done in Add/remove programs - Windows Components.

Simple as that?

What about running asp.net pages off of it?
CiaranDolanCommented:
asp.net is builtin but to be sure you should check to ensure the latest .Net Framework is installed.

To shield it from the outside world just ensure that your firewall does not have any incoming rules for your server.

You will need to Disable Recursive DNS Lookups on your DNS server, so the internal server is not resolved to the outside world. If you are running IIS 6.0, you will need to enable the ASP Scripting Extentiion from IIS MMC console. It is disabled by default in this new version. Other than that it comes pretty much out the box runing ASP scripting
Dmitri FarafontovLinux Systems AdminCommented:
You can also firewall the server. In addition you can bind it to a specific internal IP adress, if security is an asset.

If you want the internal users to see the server create a new website with a host header that is unique to the inside. To run asp,net you have to go into add/remove programs and install asp.net serivces under the application server services.
Dmitri FarafontovLinux Systems AdminCommented:
ISAPI ASP filter is already installed, during IIS 6.0 Installation.
jon37325Commented:
No, asp is installed but ASP.Net is normally no by default. IF you go through the add/remove programs,  in your server components. under application server, you will see a option for ASP.NET. ASP FIlter is just for Active Server Pages, not ASP>NET
Dmitri FarafontovLinux Systems AdminCommented:
That would be correct Jon.

Ok I have done what was suggested and the new intranet is working very nicely.  Thanks

However, there is a slight problem.  The problem is that I can not view the web pages from the servers browser.

Any ideas why this is?

thanks

IE 6.0 is tightly locked down by default just as everything else in Windows 2003, so it doesnt display anything. All you need to do is reset the Seucurity Level to Medium and you are good to go. As well as uncheck a security box on the Advanced tab.

Happy surfring.
