Testing apache performance.

Hello all,

I need some open source or  proprietary tools to measure performance of my Apache webserver.

The following things need to be checked.

1) Performance
I need to check the performance against requests. If the requests are increased then how the performance would get reduced etc.

2) Load
The load apache puts on memory and CPU needs to be checked when there are huge number of concurrent requests.

Please let me know which tools you guys use/recommend.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You could try JMeter which is part of the Apache project.
It has been about 2 years since I used it but as I remember I gave it several URLs, and parameters to post/get if necessary, and any other settings i wanted and JMeter made connections building up the number of connections and measuring the response time. As I remember I got nice graphs from it!

There is also a sourceforge project called sysbench
but I have not tried this one myself.
Hope this helps,
