Should I upgrade my Intel Chipset?

I have a brand new Dell 8400. I just got a random "blue screen" error while I was working with an Adobe tech rep to fix an installation problem with a prgram I bought and downloaded. He had me make some changes to msconfig (selective startup). I got the blue screen during our session. When I rebooted, i got a message that Windows XP Pro had recoverd from a severe problem and asked me to report it to Microsoft. After reporting it I was sent to a Microsoft "crash" site which pointed me to an Intel chipset update.

Should I install this update or see if I ever get a bluescreen again?

Yes, I would say install the update - blue screens can be fixed with proper Windows drivers.
