Installing NDS printer

I am having some problems installing a printer.

1. when i add the drivers to the broker, the location that the files are being copied to are c:\nds

2. I install a printer queu and printer object. But how do you link the two together?

After installing, the printer does show up on the server. when i try to install on a pc i am told that the server has the wrong driver. I have downloaded the latest driver from the website.

I'm curious as to why you're using Queue-based printing instead of NDPS? Or are you using NDPS? Your terminology is confusing - in 1) you talk about "the broker", meaning (I assume) the NDPS broker. But in 2) you mention printer "queu" (sic), which is what you have in the older Queue-based printing. Which one do you want to do? Or are you using NDPS to service an existing Queue-based printer?

If you're doing straight Queue-based printing, then NDPS automated driver distribution doesn't work. You need to use NDPS printing natively.

I know im not to clear. I am still trying to get me feet on the ground. I was handed this network with almost 0 knowledge in netware. So my terminolgy will get better over time. We can only hope.

The previous admin was using queus. So i am trying to install the next printer the same way he might have. But I was also using ndps broker to add the drivers for the printer.

I have tried to install the printer 2 ways.

1. using iprint. In here i install the drivers into the broker (the drivers seem to copy to c:\novell
2. using nwadmin. Here i setup the queu and printer objects. Installed drivers into the broker. Again drivers copy to c:\novell

each time the printer will only show up in the directory if I install a queu object.

PsiCop,

I was able to resolve this. Your first posting helped me to look at other reasons I was having this problem. I needed to enable queue support. iprint, manage printer, client support, QMS Support, here I was able to set the queue.

Thanks. I am having a driver problem know. *grin* I will post a new question for that one right away.
