Proxy Firewalls

Anyone have any good recommendations on open source proxy firewalls?  Has to support several well known protocols and continues to support more, is well documented, has a high userbase ( for support ), and isin't too difficult to implement.  I've googled but would like some opinions from experts.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

actually, squid is the most popular proxy firewall. it can be working with any protocol but difficult to config.

but
we have so many tools to simplify the work, you may use webmin to config, use SARG to see the report every day

OR I have another way. You can use SafeSquid (http://www.safesquid.com/home/portal.php?page=5) It's free also.but for commercial you have to buy.
