GD library and PHP 4.3.4

I've just installed Mandrake 10 as a VMWare OS for my development environment.  It was my understanding that the gd library was included in all php versions 4.1 and above, but when I run phpinfo(), I show that the gd extensions are, in fact, not installed.

Is something wrong or do I just need to download php-gd-4.3.10 rpm?

Thanks,
David

Yes install that rpm (but why is it 4.3.10 and you are talkin about 4.3.4) and then add in your php.ini
extension=gd.so

The gd-extension is compiled as loadable php-module in Mandrake and other newer linux distributions.
