In modify message_size_limit to the size you want (measured in bytes).

If the connection itself is timing out I don't think its postfix, postfix will refuse the message right away if its over the limit (its including in the server communication).

Is there possibly a firewall or another device which is prematurly dropping a connection if its open too long?

message_size_limit doesn't exist in so shall i just add it? i think default is 10 Mb. so my emails more than this are getting timed out.
