Storing/retrieving a jpg in a mySQL blob?

Is it possible to have a form that uploads a jpg into a  field of type (blob?) of a mysql database? If so, can anybody give me any direction. Once it's there, can it be retreived and put into a page along with the other fields of the record?

Thanks for any help you can give me,

there is a great tutorial on this here:
This takes care of an upload form, insert into mysql code, and code to display it again.

basically, it shows you how to use header() to set what type you're displaying.

This topic has always been an issue of much debate.  As far as I am concerned I would rather store a jpg in this manner:

Save the .jpg to a specified folder and insert the folder/img path into the mysql DB.  Then use your php code to display the img from the path in the DB.  In my opinion this is a much easier way to handle things.
