ACCESS ISSUES

I am looking for some help!

I have a windows 2000 machine on the domain.  The machine has domain admins in the local admin group and does not have any ipsec of firewalls turned on.  The standard admin UNC shares are there however the only t hing I can do to the machine in ping it.  Nothing crazy in the logs and a MS network MPS reports returned normal results.

Any ideas?

what are you trying to do to the machine that isn't working?

you may want to check in the TCP/IP properties, and make sure that you have enabled the NetBIOS over TCP/IP checkbox - that is required for Windows sharing to work.

Thanks for the note - I checked this setting and it is set to inherit from DHCP which is set correctly (on).  Any other ideas?  IT seems that all authentication from another machine to that one fails while that machine can authenticate out just fine.

On the Local Area Connection Properties for this LAN card, Is the Client for Microsoft Network selected?
Is is set to Windows Locator?

Is the "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" selected?

In the IP settings-->Advanced-->Options-->TCP/IP Filtering are all of the values listed at "Permit All"?

On the file (in explorer), do you have "Share this folder" selected?
In the permissions tab, (this is for testing) do you have Everyone with Allow for Full Control, Change, and Read?

If you're still in error, check your event logs and report.
